He spoke gunshots.
into the deep woods of
my head. and i exhale
fireflies that flicker
heartbeats. constant,
this perplexity,when our
words get in the way.
as if there's so many
things to say but one
obtuse word can kill
a purpose. and a thousand
thoughtful words couldn't
even take it back.

i love him. it's as
simple as that. but love
is never simple when i
really think of it. it's
entangled with all
complexities, like it or not.
it's him and i both,
surviving.
it's him and i both,
falling together
and getting up
again and again.

but dammit to hell,
i love him.
because forever
becomes a reality
when i look into his eyes.
it's that simple.
it really is.
