Last night I was listening to one of my preferred radio stations. Then they have this topic-of-the-night segment. My attention was caught when I heard what they were talking about. The topic of the night was “If you are ‘NOT’ looking for a serious relationship, would you go for friends with benefits? Or would you go for one night stand?”
Hahaha! I can not count the times the DJ had mention and stressed out the word “NOT” in the subject. Why did this catch my attention? It’s not that I’m gonna choose one of the options they laid. No, I have my stand for this. My attention was caught because after a while, a lady with a very sexy voice called in, and butted her thoughts. I was curious on what she has to say about the topic.
She said, “I would go for friends with benefits, but I think I’m gonna change my mind to one night stand…” So sexy… that all the boys (the DJ and his boy friends over the air) groaned out loud! When the DJ asked “why”, the sexy caller said, “Because friends with benefits might just complicate things…” And so on and so forth their hot conversation went.
Yeah, she has a point. Really, I find the question interesting. Because for me (just for me though), I think I have a pretty good (uhmm) “say” about this matter.
First to defend myself (if I may), I’m a good girl. I swear in the name of my parents and my friends and those who really knew me that I have not and will never go in any of the options above. If they say, geez you have to make a choice. Well, if I choose not to decide, then I still have made a choice! (Ting!)
But argument wise, to answer the question (or can I say this), to express my opinion so that others would give a thought of, in the plain meaning of the word, my stand is that –- if YOU are NOT, as in REALLY REALLY REALLY NOT, looking for a serious relationship, then spare your friend. Yeah, go for that one night stand.
Here are the situations that I think are of good points (again, these are all just my opinions):
1] If you are looking for a not so serious relationship with someone and may consider a real relationship afterwards with that someone, then 2pts for friends with benefits. Why, because you already knew something about the person. You’re friends, right? So who knows that might get into something more real, more serious.
2] You could also go for one night stand for that (1pt for one night stand). In some exceptional cases, one night stand partners could develop into something serious also.
3] Friend or not friend, if that person is okay with whatever setup you may deal, then that’s cool. You have early warnings, you knew the consequences.
So that’s it if you may consider or if you are ready for the consequences after – may it be good or not; and if in friends, if you wanna see how far you’re friendship could go.
But if, if and if and if, if you are NOT (and NOT and NOT and NOT) looking for a serious one, please... don't ever use your friend, my dear.
So, how about you, what’s your choice?
